Venture House: Edition #9
VC Events, Jobs, Resources, and more.
Venture House Squad,
Welcome to the ninth edition of our weekly newsletter where we dive into the latest events, jobs, resources, and more across the venture landscape. We’re well into the busy season with accelerator applications, demo days, and fundraising all converging over the next few weeks. But don’t sweat it - I’ll keep you in the loop 🫡
If you’re new, my name is Gyan Kandhari and I’m the Head of Community at Venture House. I connect investors and founders, lead events and partnerships, and create content for rising VCs.
Without further ado, here are this week’s updates:
Investor & Founder Events
It appears most event organizers have picked up on the fact that VCs prefer coffee over cocktails (they’re studying our eating habits). That said, I suggest waking up a bit earlier than usual to attend at least one of the events in our lineup.
Check out our fully updated list as of today, September 13th.

Here are a few of my favorite events in the next week below…
🥳 Pre-Seed and Seed Investors Mixer at Antler NYC (view)
Hosted by: Kaila Lim, Jeff Becker
When: Wednesday, Sep 18th
Where: NYC
My take: Antler is on a tear - both in backing new startups and hosting some of the best events across the country. Kaila (Community Head) and Jeff (GP) are bringing together early-stage investors and Antler’s latest batch of founders over coffee. This is a great opportunity to connect with the community, hear from the Antler Investment Team as they share the pulse of early-stage investing, and meet up-and-coming founders. Note: The event is waitlist only but I would certainly still sign up.
🥐 Tech Breakfast Social (view)
Hosted by: Andrew Yeung, Justin Wolz, Drew Parten
When: Friday, Sep 20th
Where: NYC
My take: Andrew’s morning social gatherings attract a high-quality mix of early-stage founders, operators, and investors. It's a more intimate, scaled-down version of his rooftop mixers, which, in my opinion, is a major plus. If you're an investor looking to expand your founder network or a founder preparing for fundraising, this event is for you.
☕ NYC Fintech Coffee (view)
Hosted by: Carina Oriel, Roi Ben Daniel
When: Tuesday, Sep 17th
Where: NYC
My take: Another round of coffee, please! Barclays, Received, and This Week in Fintech are hosting investors, operators, and fintech enthusiasts next Wednesday. I always find the best approach to building your presence in any community is by showing up. Drop by, make new friends, and drink, dare I say, coffee.
👩🏽⚕️ Women In Health Hosted by SVB, Antler, and Periodally (view)
Hosted by: Hilla Hascalovici, Mickala Olesen, Kaila Lim
When: Tuesday, Sep 17th
Where: NYC
My take: SVB, Antler, and Periodially are bringing together female investors and founders for a panel discussion on securing funding and founding ventures as women in the health sector. The panel will be followed by a networking session with drinks (coffee) and small bites. Curated and focused, mission-driven, and hosted by an awesome group - what more could you want?
🦾 AI Founder Social @ Maxwell Social (view)
Hosted by: Andrew Chang
When: Tuesday, Sep 17th
Where: NYC
My take: It looks like the AI community likes cocktails because Andrew and the team at Lynx Collective are hosting a happy hour at Maxwell Social. Broaden your founder network, share what you’re building (or investing in), and unwind from the daily grind.
🌴 LA Founders & Investors (view)
Hosted by: Anna Barber (M13), Brandon Hoffman (Sunset VC)
When: Wednesday, Sep 18th
Where: LA
My take: Fireside chat with Dan Benyamin (Founder, Aeon) and Anna Barber (Partner, M13) hosted by Brandon Hoffman (GP, Sunset VC) - stellar lineup if you ask me. But wait! There’re more. Tacos, drinks, and refreshments are included. Overall 10/10 event to cap off your Wednesday.
🎈 SPC End of Summer Demo Faire (view)
Hosted by: South Park Commons
When: Wednesday, Sep 18th
Where: SF
My take: SPC is a community of builders and domain experts across the country. Their fund and fellowship program helps startups get from ideation to PMF. As part of this, they’re opening their doors for a day of demos and networking at their HQ in SF. Cool opportunity to get a peek inside SPC and get a lay of the startup landscape.
VC Job Openings
Full-time positions, hot off the press. We’ve updated our list with ~15 new positions.
Here’s an updated list of VC roles as of today, September 13th.
👉 You can find the full list here 👈
I’ve handpicked a few of my favorite openings below…
⚡ Associate, Slow Ventures (view)
🏙️ Location: SF/NYC
My take: One of the most active early-stage VCs is hiring an Associate. 550 startups backed (including Venmo, Robinhood, Solana, and Airtable), $770M AUM, and a founding team of early Facebook employees (you can tell from the job description) make this opportunity a can’t-miss. One catch: the first step is an aptitude test 😭
⚡ VC Analyst, Springbank (view)
🗽 Location: NYC
My take: Brian and the team at Springbank are awesome people to work with. You’ll be exposed to all aspects of venture (from sourcing to deal execution) and help support companies across future of work, healthcare, and consumer. If you’re looking to break into VC, check this one out.
⚡ Associate, Outsiders Fund (view)
🗽 Location: NYC
My take: True associate role with exposure to sourcing, diligence, and portfolio support. Lean team with direct mentorship from partners + sector agnostic approach makes this an invaluable learning experience for those looking to leave banking, consulting, etc.
⚡ Principal, Shopify Ventures (view)
⌨️ Location: Remote
My take: OK this one is truly unique. It’s one thing working for a CVC, it’s another working for a CVC at a leading tech giant operating like a true standalone venture firm. This role is perfect for anyone who has venture and developer (or product) experience and is looking for their next career move.

First week back from vacation and I feel like I’m caught in a venture monsoon. But we made it, and for your hard work, here’s this week’s fortune cookie…
When you’re on your way up, everyone roots for you because you remind them of their dreams. When you’re at the top, everyone tears you down because you remind them of what they gave up on.
Thanks for reading,
