Venture House: Edition #8
VC Events, Jobs, Resources, and more.
Venture House Squad,
Welcome to the eighth edition of our weekly newsletter where we dive into the latest events, jobs, resources, and more across the venture landscape. This week has seen a flurry of new job postings but a slowdown in events as investors take time off. But not to worry, September is shaping up to be fully booked.
If you’re new, my name is Gyan Kandhari and I’m the Head of Community at Venture House. I connect investors and founders, lead events and partnerships, and create content for rising VCs.
Without further ado, here are this week’s updates:
Investor & Founder Events
As mentioned at the top, events have taken a hit due to (rather latent) seasonality. But fewer heads = more opportunities to stand out and make those connections.
Check out our fully updated list as of today, August 30th.

Here are a few of my favorite events in the next week below…
🔭 Inside: Antler (view)
Hosted by: Kaila Lim (Antler), Roslyn Jin (Antler), Andrew Chang (Lynx Collective)
When: Wednesday, Sep 4th
Where: NYC
My take: Antler is one of the most active early-stage VCs in the world with 262 deals in 2023 alone. Roslyn (Partner) and Kaila (Community Head) are providing the venture community with a look into their famous residency program and a slew of startup initiatives at their Madison Square Park office. I view this as a great opportunity for early-stage founders to connect with the Antler team and for aspiring investors to learn from the best in the business.
🫂 Founders, Funders & Friends (view)
Hosted by: Catherine Huang, Maria Pope
When: Thursday, Sep 5th
Where: NYC
My take: The event Avengers (Folio, Arc, Antler, Carta) are coming together to host Seed to Series B founders, operators, and investors for a fireside chat and networking session. Thursday night drinks + new faces across the venture ecosystem = a night well spent.
💨 Air Street NYC AI Meetup (view)
Hosted by: Nathan Benaich
When: Thursday, Sep 5th
Where: NYC
My take: Nathan Benaich is a General Partner at Air Street, an active VC investing in early-stage (pre-seed, seed) AI companies. The panels (with Google, ElevenLabs), networking session, and combination of founders and investors make this event a high ROI opportunity for anyone (interested) in the AI ecosystem.
🥐 Rho x WeWork: Rho Lounge Launch Breakfast (view)
Hosted by: Drew Parten, Justin Wolz
When: Tuesday, Sep 3rd
Where: NYC
My take: Rho is opening its doors to the NYC startup community through their new coworking space. From what I hear, it’s decked out with monitors, wall plugs, AC (trust me, you’ll need this), and snacks. I find these free coworking spaces to be amazing platforms to meet other passionate folks across venture. It’s happening every day in September. 0 cost, unlimited ROI.
🏃 Pitch & Run - Williamsburg (view)
Hosted by: Kevin Weatherman
When: Wednesday, Sep 4th
Where: NYC
My take: I find it funny that most investors and founders I talk to despise running (I get it, me too). But Kevin is one of the most active angels in NYC and the Pitch & Run community is fun, brilliant, and eclectic (founders, operators, investors, you name it). If this doesn’t make you want to run, you’re (as my little cousin says) cooked.
🧑⚕️ Health2Tech & DHAI (view)
Hosted by: Alex Koshykov, Amir Lahav
When: Wednesday, Sep 4th
Where: Boston
My take: The density of AI and healthtech VCs in Boston (Glasswing, F-Prime, Venture Guides, to name a few) make this event perfect for both investors and founders.
☕ San Francisco Fintech Coffee Meetup (view)
Hosted by: Jake Mendel (Silicon Valley Bank), Ryan Zauk (OMERS Ventures)
When: Thursday, Sep 5th
Where: SF
My take: Stimulating conversations (and drinks) hosted by two giants in fintech for the fintech community. No agenda, no panels, just friends in fintech. Overall, this is a perfect way to start your Thursday.
One to Watch: Early-stage SaaS Investor & Founder Cocktail Hour (view)
Hosted by: Gyan Kandhari
When: Wednesday, Sep 18th
Where: NYC
My take: We’re hosting a curated group of early-stage SaaS investors and founders for a cocktail hour at one of my favorite spots in the city, Outer Heaven. It’s a perfect opportunity to connect with fellow builders, meet some of the most active NYC VCs, and make new friends as we gear up for a busy Q4 (wow, we’re actually approaching Q4).
VC Job Openings
We got some good ones this week. And with the long weekend ahead, you’ve got plenty of time to apply. Let’s get into it.
Here’s an updated list of VC roles as of today, August 30th.
👉 You can find the full list here 👈
I’ve handpicked a few of my favorite openings below…
⚡ Analyst/Associate, Struck Capital (view)
🏙️ Location: LA
My Take: Probably the most traditional VC role out of the bunch. Struck is hiring an Analyst or Associate to join their LA team (based on experience level). You’ll gain exposure to sourcing, diligence, deal execution, portfolio management, and fund strategy initiatives. If that doesn’t sound good enough, the application process is via LinkedIn Easy Apply, meaning it should take 10 seconds to send in your app
⚡ Associate, Nyca (view)
🏙️ Location: SF
My Take: Nyca is one of the top fintech-focused firms in the world with 900mm AUM and 100 portcos under their belt. In addition to being a core member of the team, you’ll get the chance to work with LPs, increase Nyca’s presence, and overall be the face of the firm. Sounds like a sweet gig to me.
⚡ Associate, Matter Venture Partners (view)
🏙️ Location: SF
My Take: MVP is a dedicated HardTech VC ready to launch its next two funds. This role is perfect for someone with a background in areas like cloud infra, AI/ML, life sciences, aerospace, or robotics. If you’re lacking experience - no worries. MVP is also hiring an Analyst in SF.
⚡ Principal + Senior Associate Roles, Earth Foundry (view)
🏙️ Location: Chicago, IL
My Take: Earth Foundry is expanding its ranks with two new openings on the investment team. The firm specializes in software, hardware, and material sciences across climatetech (hopefully the name gave it away). With Climatetech being one of the hottest sectors in recent years, this role is surely going to be fun.

It’s Labor Day Weekend. Before you go pencils down and enjoy a day or two of R&R, here’s this week’s fortune cookie…
People delay doing things they don’t like for longer than it takes to do them.
(If that doesn’t get you fired up to send in those apps, I don’t know what will)
Thanks for reading,
