Venture House: Edition #7

VC Events, Jobs, Resources, and more.

Venture House Squad,

What does a hospital, a wedding, and an interview have in common? Me šŸ˜©

Sorry Iā€™m a day late everyone, life has been hectic as of late (yes, all three things happened in a matter of 3 days). Nevertheless, welcome to our lucky seventh edition of our weekly newsletter where we dive into the latest events, jobs, resources, and more across the venture landscape.

If youā€™re new, my name is Gyan Kandhari and Iā€™m the Head of Community at Venture House. I connect investors and founders, lead events and partnerships, and create content for rising VCs.

Without further ado, here are this weekā€™s updates:

Investor & Founder Events

The events calendar is slightly cooling down. It finally looks like investors are leaving their desks, touching grass, and going on a much-needed vacation. But some of us are holding down the fort šŸ˜¤

Speaking of which, check out our fully updated list as of today, August 23rd.

šŸ‘‰ You can find the full list here šŸ‘ˆ

Here are a few of my favorite events belowā€¦

šŸ„ƒ Early-stage SaaS Investor & Founder Cocktail Hour (view)
Hosted by: Venture House, Rho
When: Wednesday, Sep 18th
Where: NYC
My take: Weā€™re partnering with Rho and hosting 30 stellar SaaS investors and founders for a cocktail hour at one of my favorite spots in the city, Outer Heaven. Itā€™s a perfect opportunity to connect with fellow builders, meet some of the most active NYC VCs, and make new friends. Did I mention drinks are on us?

šŸŽ¤ Pitch Deck Review w/ Deel, Foxe Capital, Headline, and Canaan (view)
Hosted by: Zehra Naqvi (Headline), ā€‹Felipe Ossio (Canaan), Kyle Perez (Foxe Capital)
When: Monday, August 26th
Where: NYC
My take: Top-notch investors and a community of fellow builders coming together to support one another. Itā€™s a fantastic way to build your network, and if youā€™re about to go in-market, pitch to VCs without the worry of failing. Overall one of my favorite events this summer.

šŸ¤– Going Global w/ AI - a panel discussion + networking (view)
Hosted by: Kenan Kitchen, Jenny Fielding (Everywhere Ventures), Maya Bakhai (Spice Capital)
When: Monday, August 26th
Where: NYC
My take: Panel discussion with AI leaders followed by a networking session. Based on the panel and attendee list, expect a mix of investors, founders, and operators. Jenny and Maya are two killer early-stage investors always on the lookout for new investment opps.

šŸ¦¾ AI Night NYC ~ w/ Jam.dev (view)
Hosted by: Union Square Ventures, Jam.dev
When: Thursday, August 29th
Where: NYC
My take: Normally I wouldnā€™t post two AI events back to back, but this one is cool. 100+ demos of new applications in front of fellow builders and investors at the Union Square Ventures office. Pretty awesome, right?

šŸŽ™ļø Between Two Founders #2: Vanta CEO Christina Cacioppo (view)
Hosted by: Christina Cacioppo, Jeff Seibert
When: Tuesday, August 27th
Where: SF
My take: Iā€™m a big fan of fireside chats. My only wish is that they involved actual fires and marshmallows. This one happens to be with two awesome founders, Christina Cacioppo (Vanta, 2.45B valuation) and Jeff Seibert (Digits, 565M valuation). Sit for the panel, stay for the networking, and gain invaluable insights while youā€™re at it.

šŸ» Boston Startup Community Meetup (view)
Hosted by: Silicon Valley Bank, Valia Ventures
When: Tuesday, August 27th
Where: Boston
My take: Clearly, you can see Iā€™m starting to lose it as this newsletter progresses. But stay with me here. SVB and Valia Ventures are closing out the summer with an early-stage investor/founder get-together. Itā€™s a no-frills networking opportunity.

VC Job Openings

Jobs hot off the press! Iā€™m seeing more solid opportunities come across my desk as investors gear up for a hefty Q4.

For those searching, I understand how tough it can be. But if anyone is going to get a job, itā€™s someone in the Venture House squad. Pick up your šŸ‘‘ and get back to work, king (or queen).

Hereā€™s an updated list of VC roles as of today, August 23rd.

šŸ‘‰ You can find the full list here šŸ‘ˆ

Iā€™ve handpicked a few of my favorite openings belowā€¦

āš”Principal, Azolla Ventures (view)
šŸ™ļøLocation: SF or Boston
My Take: Youā€™ll be leading climate tech investments out of Azollaā€™s $230mm fund. Board seats, full investment cycle exposure, and a small team make this a compelling opportunity for anyone interested in energy and environmental tech.

āš”Senior Associate - AI/Web3, Alumni Ventures (view)
šŸ™ļøLocation: SF
My Take: AI/Web3 investing in Menlo Park sounds like a dream. Alumni Ventures is looking for experienced investors to join their AI and Blockchain Team. Intense focus on sourcing with some diligence work.

āš”Investment Analyst, S4S (view)
šŸ™ļøLocation: NYC
My take: Perfect entry role for anyone looking to break into VC and has 1-3 years of work experience. Traditional VC exposure (sourcing through deal execution), based in NYC, and focus on early-stage tech. What else could you want?

āš”2024-2025 MBA Associate (view)
šŸ™ļøLocation: NYC
My take: I normally wouldnā€™t post an internship but this one is with Alpaca (and it turns out some of my readers are finishing their MBAs). This role is focused on the ā€œbuilt worldā€ (PropTech, Construction Tech & Climate Tech); three categories that have seen immense exposure in the last year. 10/10 internship opp with a 11/10 firm.
