Venture House: Edition #11

VC Events, Jobs, Resources, and more.

Venture House Squad,

Welcome to the eleventh edition of our weekly newsletter where we dive into the latest events, jobs, resources, and more across the venture landscape.

We’re in the eye of the storm as everyone returns to their desk after a hectic September in anticipation of SF and LA Tech Week. But don’t sweat it, we have more than enough events and job openings to hold you down for the next week 💪

Before we dive in, my name is Gyan Kandhari and I’m the Head of Community at Venture House. I connect investors and founders, lead events and partnerships, and create content for rising VCs.

Without further ado, here are this week’s updates:

Investor & Founder Events

We’re seeing more and more curated, focused events on the calendar. More ROI, attention to detail, and selectiveness are becoming apparent as organizers get a better hang of the ropes.

Check out our fully updated list as of today, September 27th.

Here's a quick rundown of what’s on the calendar…

🎈 Reverse VC Pitch Night (view)
Hosted by: Andrew Chang, Parth Chopra, Prad Parthiban
When: Thursday, October 3rd
Where: NYC
My take: We’re kicking it off with my pick of the week. I believe the best investors are more than capital providers; they’re partners in the trenches who provide founders with the tools to succeed. Andrew (Lynx Collective), Parth (Bain Capital Ventures), Prad (H/L Ventures), and others are coming together to pitch their VCs to founders, their approach to founder partnerships, and sectors they're eager to back. An original format, a plethora of investors, and drinks on tap make this event a go-to.

🥂 NYC Pre-Seed Mixer (view)
Hosted by: Jack McClelland, Carina Oriel
When: Monday, Sep 30th
Where: NYC
My take: Jack (Afore Capital) and Carina (Barclays) are hosting a panel discussion + networking event for early-stage founders, investors, and operators. The panel will involve Afore portfolio founders sharing how they navigated going 0-1. Not to mention, Afore is actively recruiting for its founder-in-residence program.

🎉 Investors Reception | Supermoon & PitchBook (view)
Hosted by: Elena Obukhova
When: Tuesday, October 1st
Where: NYC
My take: With the Mainnet conference in NYC next week, Supermoon and Pitchbook are bringing together VCs for an investor reception/happy hour next Tuesday. Unlike most web3 events (trust me, I’ve attended hundreds as a founder), this one comes with legit web2 sponsors and one of the best web3 communities out there. I suggest swinging by, even if to catch a quick update on the space.

🥳 Thera Launch Party (view)
Hosted by: Akhil Reddy, Andrew Yeung
When: TODAY (starts at 6pm)
Where: NYC
My take: Chances are you’ve heard about this event, but if not, Thera is celebrating its seed funding round with a launch party at the DL. While I don’t suggest going to the event to necessarily pitch or find your next unicorn, it’s an easy way to connect with folks in the startup community and kick off your Friday night.

☕ SF Founders Candid Coffee (view)
Hosted by: Alyssa Krejmas
When: Tuesday, October 1st
Where: SF
My take: Alyssa and the team at Innocrew host events and workshops for the SF founder community. They’re kicking off October with an early-morning coffee mixer. Perfect opportunity to meet early-stage founders and investors while getting caffeinated.

🦾 Consumer AI Agents and Applications (view)
Hosted by: Sara Deshpande, Murray Newells
When: Tuesday, October 1st
Where: SF
My take: If you’re in SF and operating or investing in AI (high likelihood here), Sara (Maven Ventures) and Murray (Open Future) are hosting a networking session geared toward consumer AI applications. This comes at a time when 95% of the AI networking events revolve around B2B/enterprise AI opportunities.

VC Job Openings

We’ve got a variety of new roles posted on our job board. If you’re in the market for a new role or just perusing, I suggest giving this week’s list a look.

Here’s an updated list of VC roles as of today, September 27th.

I’ve handpicked a few of my favorite openings below…

⚡ Analyst, Elevate Ventures (view)
🏙️ Location: Indianapolis, IN
My Take: Traditional analyst role at one of the most active early-stage VC funds. Expect sourcing, market research, diligence, memo creation, and even IC meeting involvement. Top opportunity for anyone looking to break into venture.

⚡ First Hire, The Aligned Fund (view)
🌇 Location: Boston, MA
My Take: My pick of the week. At first glance, the role does not seem to be investing-heavy (more so on operations), but given the fund is so early, I’m sure you can carve out a founder-facing role. Not to mention, it’s extremely rare to get a seat at the inception of a venture fund. You’ll learn a lot.

⚡ Principal, Amazon Innovation Fund (view)
🗽 Location: NYC
My take: Opportunity to oversee emerging technology segments and interface with senior execs at one of the top companies in the world PLUS deal work. Yeah, sign me up. The pay is also what you’d expect from a tech giant…

⚡ Associate, Starlight Ventures (view)
🌴 Location: Miami
My take: You’ll work to back some of the top frontier tech companies solving pressing issues across space, biotech, and climate. The Miami sunshine also sounds perfect this time of year (minus the hurricanes).

Can you believe we’re approaching October?! It’s crazy to think we’re this far into the year. But with that said, here’s a fortune cookie to refuel before the start of Q4…

You don’t rise to the level of your goals; you fall to the levels of your systems.
